Taste #5 Umami Paste Far Eastern Vegetarian created with celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa is the first vegetarian umami paste and a mouth-watering addition to the Taste #5 Umami Collection. A product of Nobu-San’s masterful understanding of Japanese umami and Laura’s expertise in flavour and food science, Taste #5 Umami Paste Far Eastern Vegetarian will launch in Selfridges this March and adds an Asian kick to any dish, raw or cooked.

“I am honoured to have created the recipe for a Far Eastern Vegetarian version of Taste #5 Umami Paste with international master chef Nobu Matsuhisa,” Laura says.  “For many years I have been inspired by Nobu-San’s artful ability to fuse complex international flavours into a single dish, for a final outcome that is as understated as it is exquisite.”

Following the success of her original Taste #5 Umami Paste, Laura wanted to create an Asian-inspired, vegetarian blend to give cooks an additional place for their taste buds to travel. Taste #5 Umami Paste Far Eastern Vegetarian is an umami-spiced, garlic-based puree with Asian ingredients naturally high in umami, including miso, shitake mushrooms, soy sauce, and green tea, enhanced by sweet mirin, fiery ginger and fragrant yuzu.

One small squeeze of this delicious new blend can transform the blandest of dishes into extraordinary and memorable meals.  A sizzling wok paste to magically stir-fry anything from meat, fish, and poultry, to cooked rice and noodles; it also adds magic gold in a vinaigrette.
