Friday was the first day of Ramadan.
My friend – Mohammed- has been waiting for this all year long. He says that it is at this time of the year that he feels his heritage the most, who he is and where he comes from. He feels connected with his family and people, wherever they are in the world and however they are living this experience.
This is a picture from last year of Mohammed and me before going out for dinner.
I have always envied him for his strength and wished I could be as strong and determined. So, to share a tiny bit of this experience with him, every year, at some point during the first week of Ramadan, we go out for dinner. This time I’m going to bring him to one of my favourite boroughs -Notting Hill. I want to try the Granger & Co restaurant… the “lamb cutlets with garlic & parsley, roman beans and pecorino dressing” sounds just too good.
