An unusual pop up

This is something that I had to note down in my agenda. For the next few Saturdays, Blacks Private Club, one of the oldest drinking and partying dens of London, is playing some of London’s coolest freelance chefs.

If you like, as much as I do, a place that slows the pace and turns back the clock to another sexy and glamorous era, then this Georgian shelter is the ultimate retreat.

So, everything starts on Saturday the 4th of August. There’s a £42 lunch (1pm for 1.30pm start) and £48 dinner (7.30pm for 8pm start).

More details are summarised below.

Saturday 4th August: RAVINDER BHOGAL

A glamorous ex-beauty writer, the author of Cook in Boots and
an excellent cook who has done many a pop-up including some for Mark Hix and Meza.

Here is her menu:

-Papaya Salad Crackers

-Prawn Toast Scotch Eggs, Prawn Cracker Crust, Banana   Ketchup (veggie option: Aloo Tikki Scotch Egg, Banana Ketchup)

-Pork and Peanut Curry, Pickled Greens, Pineapple Relish, Jasmine Rice (Tofu, Pumpkin and Peanut Curry with same sides)

-Coconut, Lime and Passion Fruit Trifle with Mango Tapioca

They are the chefs behind the Green Goat Food wagon serving up seriously sustainable food in exciting & innovative ways… Expect the unexpected!

Just a teaser of their menu:

-Starter: Portreath line-caught mackerel with forgotten beetroot and tomato concoctions (veggie options available)

-Dessert: Orange blossom yoghurt panna cotta with blackberry moss and honeycomb

Saturday 18th August: CARL CLARKE

For this event, he’ll be known as the #PunkChef but you might
have come across him at previous events like God Save The Clam, last year’s Rock Lobsta and The English Launderette. He’s mad, bad and dangerously good in the kitchen so be prepared for anything.

Some of his dishes for this event include:

-Popped millet and devilled pig skin

-Rose hip “toast & jam”

-Muntjac and elderberries, dried pig’s blood or veggie option

I can’t wait!
