Released yesterday in their first list of this kind, Italy’s Osteria Francescana was selected in first place in a comprehensive list of 101 others. Within the top 10, Massimo Bottura’s restaurant managed to fend off competition from other notable eats such as Arzak, Noma and Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester.

The result of a seven-month nomination process by two hundred restaurant critics and food and lifestyle writers, The Daily Meal’s appointment of Osteria Francesana as Europe’s best, accompanies its rankings as fifth in the World and fourth in Europe according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards.
As one of an initial list of 1,450 restaurants to be considered by The Daily Meal, the placing of Osteria Francesana atop so many others truly exemplifies the scale of this magnificent achievement. Congratulations Massimo & all the rest of the team.
