On Friday 8th March, international woman and set-designer extraordinaire Roxy Walton held her annual International Women’s Day (IWD) party at her beautiful home in Brixton. Over 40 international women attended with representatives from the US, Iceland, Hong Kong, Australia and England, raising over £700 for Oxfam’s IWD campaign.
The main event of the evening was Roxy’s (now infamous) IWD charity raffle. Guests donated cash in exchange for a strip of pink raffle tickets whilst some of our favourite brands, designers and artists donated some particularly lavish prizes.
Food offerings came courtesy of Green and Blacks, Pukka Tea and our very own Le Parfait whilst jewellery, night-wear and accessories were generously donated by Agent Provocateur, Jas-M.B, Liberty and Katie Hillier. Record collections were kindly supplied by Rough Trade. To finish the raffle, autographed memorabilia and back stage passes were donated courtesy of One Direction (much to the excitement of the room)
Le Parfait’s Super jars and lidded jam jars were beautifully filled with flowers, candles, crudités, dips and bites and were dotted about Roxy’s impeccably dressed home alongside hand-made bunting and banners and a dining-room table lavishly adorned with home-made cakes, pies, sandwiches and cocktails.
More information on IWD and Oxfam
Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD provides a common day for globally recognising and applauding women’s achievements as well as for observing and highlighting gender inequalities and issues. The official United Nations theme for International Women’s Day 2013 is “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women.” Oxfam have done a brilliant job of raising awareness and work to encourage women to get together on this day to celebrate and raise money to enable women around the world to build a better future for themselves and their families.
