Nathan Myhrvold and Maxime Bilet’s Modernist Cuisine at Home has been nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award, one of the most sought after decorations on the food and restaurant scene in the USA and Canada.
Established in 1990, the awards recognise professionals in the culinary and food industry for excellence in their field. Books, broadcast media, print journalism, restaurant design and chefs are all taken care of and with previous winners including Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park, Grant Achatz of Alinea and Wolfgang Puck. Big sister to Modernist Cuisine at Home, Modernist Cuisine picked up two awards last year, the book award for cooking from a professional point of view and the cookbook of the year award so here’s hoping the new book will share the same good fortune.
Modernist Cuisine at Home is nominated in the Books-General Cooking category along with What Katie Ate: Recipes and Other Bits & Pieces by Katie Quinn Davies and Canal House Cooks Every Day by Melissa Hamilton and Christopher Hirsheimer.
A weekend of events in New York will announce the winners at the start of May, more information on how to buy tickets can be seen here.
Modernist Cuisine at Home is also nominated for IACP awards which we mentioned a couple of weeks ago.
We’ve got our fingers crossed.
