The nominations for the ‘2013 Eat Out DStv Food Network Awards’ are out and both Le Quartier Francais’ Bread and Wine restaurant and The Tasting Room are in the running!
‘Eat Out’ (www.eatout.co.za) is big news in South Africa. Every November they publish the country’s restaurant directory; a glossy magazine listing over 1000 of the country’s top restaurants. The guide is launched at their annual Restaurant Awards, where the top ten restaurants in South Africa are announced along with eateries in a range of other categories. This award ceremony is now in its sixteenth year and aims to recognise the best that the South African culinary world has to offer, shining a light on the great food in the country.
This year, the 2013 ‘Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards’ will be announced on 10th November 2013, where a gala dinner will be held at ‘The Lookout’ on the V&A Waterfront. The evening certainly promises to be a truly gastronomic and exciting occasion!
It is with great excitement therefore that we can announce that Le Quartier Francais, (http://www.lqf.co.za), the luxury boutique hotel situated in the heart of Franschhoek Village, has had two of its restaurants (Bread and Wine and The Tasting Room) shortlisted (along with just 18 others) for the ‘Eat Out Top Ten Restaurants’ award. The Tasting Room has also been nominated for the ‘Boschendal Style Award’.
The Tasting Room (http://www.lqf.co.za/dining/the-tasting-room.htm) is South Africa’s most lauded fine-dining restaurant and is the stage for award-winning Relais & Châteaux Grande Chef, Margot Janse, and her unique African inspired Surprise tasting menu. In The Tasting Room the journey extends further than just extraordinary cuisine; it moves fearlessly into the captivating realm of stories and magic. A place where each plate, and its African inspired elements, have the ability to captivate the hearts and minds of diners.
Bread and Wine Vineyard Restaurant (http://www.lqf.co.za/dining/bread-wine-vineyard-restaurant.htm) is located on the family farm, Môreson, and is a relaxed and rustic lunchtime experience. Neil Jewell, Executive Head Chef and South African Charcuterie King, prepares the most delectable dishes using only the freshest seasonal ingredients.
We will be keeping all things crossed for these two fabulous restaurants and will bring you the news when the winners are announced on the 10th November 2013….
