Made in Hackney for a BBC Radio Four’s Food and Farming Award – Our case

It’s BBC Radio Four’s Food and Farming Award season and we think that friend of Le Parfait and Spoon, Made in Hackney, wholeheartedly deserves to be nominated for the Best Initiative in British Food category.

The awards, which began in 2000, recognise the achievements of creative companies and outstanding individuals on the British food scene. Past winners of awards include Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Riverford Organic Farm and Richard Bertinet. The panel of judges includes food experts and top chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Richard Corrigan and Paul Hollywood.

The winners in each of the ten categories, which include Best Takeaway or Street Food, Best Food Market and Best Drinks Producer will be announced by Sheila Dillon and Valentine Warner on Friday 9th May at 12 noon on BBC Radio Four.

Made in Hackney had a wonderful 2013, their joint collaboration with Le Parfait saw them featured in British food magazine Jamie and style guide Vogue, whilst their classes and workshops continued to grow from strength to strength. Their team are passionate about bringing local food to local people and demonstrating that it’s both affordable and beneficial to communities to make healthy food with local produce.
