The Tasting Room wins at the 2014 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards
We’re thrilled to announce that Le Quartier Francais’s world-renowned restaurant, The Tasting Room, won the Grolsch Service Excellence Award at the 2014 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards held on Sunday 16 November 2014 at Thunder City at the Cape Town International Airport. The annual ceremony and resulting magazine awards the country’s top restaurants and chefs, and is a celebration of the burgeoning restaurant industry in South Africa.
“I am so proud!” says Susan Huxter, owner of Le Quartier Français. “Service is so important to us and this passionate team embodies the Le Quartier spirit in everything they do.
“Great front-of-house skills are matched with bold personalities” says Judge, Abigail Donnelly, of the Grolsch Service award and “consistently genius food dazzles and thrills with a magical element of surprise” of The Tasting Room.
The Tasting Room also came third overall in the 2014 Awards, the thirteenth time that the restaurant has made it onto the Top 10, in the sixteen years that this award has existed.
“It’s fantastic!” says Executive Chef Margot Janse of the award. “I’m very grateful for the recognition and incredibly proud of my team. I work in the most inspiring of settings…The Tasting Room celebrated its tenth anniversary this year. Plus, Gerald van der Walt [previously of The Greenhouse] has joined our team as Head Chef and together we are rethinking, playing, creating….”

On 1 November 2014, The Rijksmuseum opened its new restaurant RIJKS® in the refurbished Philips Wing. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, the menu features dishes that primarily feature products from Dutch soil. A team of top chefs under the supervision of Joris Bijdendijk will be reinforced with an internationally renowned guest chef curating each season. At the start of January- Margot will shine her light on the menu and create new dishes together with the chefs.

Chef Margot Janse at Northcote Manor’s 2015 Obsession Festival
On Tuesday 3rd February 2015, Margot Janse will be appearing at Northcote Manor’s Obsession Festival, now in its 15th year. Margot will be appearing with Angela Hartnett (Murano and Limewood) and Lisa Allen (Northcote)
Tickets for the event are priced at £115 inclusive of Louis Roederer Brut Premier & Canapé Reception followed by a 5-course signature menu.
